MINORITY ACCESS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Students are you ready to begin working toward a career in the field of your choice? Would you like to earn pay for receiving hands-on experience; travel to exciting places while earning pay and academic credit; share experiences with students from other colleges and universities? Would you like a temporary position during your college career that may turn into an offer for full time employment upon graduation? Minority Access Internship Program could provide you with the opportunity for all of the above!!!

The Minority Access Internship Program is designed to allow talented undergraduate and graduate students who are currently under-represented in the managerial, professional and technical work force the opportunity to experience the diversity and scope of career opportunities available in the federal government and other participating entities. The program provides students with the opportunity to merge academic theory with practical application in the work place.

Minority Access interns receive pre-employment training, expert counseling on career choices, financial management and professional development, and recognition for fulfilling the requirements of the program. The Minority Access Internship Program staff is available at all times to lend assistance to the interns.

SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL INTERNSHIPS

Minority Access, Inc. actively recruits college students for paid spring, summer and fall internships in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and in locations throughout the United States. Minority Access, Inc. has placed interns in positions in many fascinating and exciting locations in states such as Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia.

Position Dates

 

  • Spring positions usually 14-16 weeks; January — May
  • Summer positions usually 10 weeks; June— August
  • Fall positions usually 14-16 weeks; September — December
Transportation & Housing

  • Round-trip travel from campus or home residence to work site included with most internships
  • Students pay daily commuting expenses
  • Assistance in locating housing is available; students responsible for housing costs
  • Housing advances deducted from students' stipends
Pay Scale


(Stipends vary with program, but these are typical pay scales before tax)
  • Sophomores and Juniors -$390 - $420 per week
  • Seniors - $430 - $450 per week
  • Graduate and Professionals - $510 - $520 per week
Application Deadlines

Applications must be received or postmarked by the dates indicated below:

  • Spring Program - December 15
  • Summer Program - March 1 ** NOW EXTENDED TO APRIL 1ST **

  • Fall Program - July 15

Application Procedures
  • Complete and submit Minority Access, Inc. application that includes:
    • academic transcript (most recent copy)
    • letters of recommendation from faculty advisor or current instructor
    • one page essay
    • resume
  • Incomplete application packages will not be considered.
Selection Procedures
  • Completed applications reviewed for:
    • academic qualifications
    • career goals
    • professional experience
    • personal interests with an available position
  • Qualifying applications referred to the requesting agency for final selections
  • Minority Access, Inc. DOES NOT make final selections or job assignments
  • Minority Access, Inc. contacts selected students
Eligibility Requirements
  • Complete application package on file
  • U. S. citizenship
  • Permanent Resident Status acceptable for most positions
  • Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) on 4.0 scale
  • Completed at least undergraduate freshman year

STUDENTS SELECTED FOR MINORITY ACCESS INTERNSHIPS
