Minority Access Internship Program

Internship Options

Stipends may vary within the program and are based on classification at the time of application.

Travel Expenses

Most internships include paid round-trip travel between home residence and job location.  Minority Access, Inc makes travel arrangements. Students who elect to use privately owned vehicles will be reimbursed for mileage. Travel must be approved in advanced. Most internships do not cover daily commuting.

Housing

Minority Access, Inc. provides assistance in locating housing.  Students are expected to pay all housing costs, including application fees, security deposits and any other fees required by the landlord.  Housing costs paid in advance by Minority Access, Inc.  are deducted from the interns’ stipends. 

 
Orientation and Other Activities

All interns are required to attend the pre-employment session conducted by Minority Access, Inc.   Interns placed in the Washington , D.C. area are expected to attend seminars, workshops and other functions hosted by Minority Access, Inc.  Interns are expected to attend mandatory activities sponsored by the host agencies.  

The Minority Access Internship Program is a well-designed program that offers students far more than the opportunity to gain meaningful work experience in professional environments. As a Minority Access intern, you will receive:

RECOGNITION.  Upon completion of the internship program, interns receive special achievement certificates and/or awards.

TRAINING.  Interns have the opportunity to attend special seminars and workshops to enhance their professional and personal development.

COUNSELING.  A team of professionals, most with experience in postsecondary administration and/or employment counseling and placement, is available at all times to offer guidance and lend assistance.

ACADEMIC CREDIT. Students may receive academic credit for internships. Students should advise Minority Access of eligibility requirements after checking with the appropriate office on their campuses.

What is the Minority Access Internship Program?
The Minority Access Internship Program provides students with the opportunity to merge academic theory with practical application in the work place through full time and part time internships. The program allows talented college students to experience the full scope and diversity of career opportunities available in the management, professional and technical domains of participating entities.

What are some of the advantages of the Minority Access Internship Program?
The Minority Access Internship Program is a well-designed program that offers students far more than the opportunity to gain meaningful work experience in professional environments. As a Minority Access intern, you will receive:  Recognition, Training, Counseling, and Academic Credit.

Who Can Apply?
Applications are accepted from full time undergraduate and graduate students.  Priority is given to students with a minimum 3.0 or better grade point average. Students must be U.S. citizens.

How are interns selected?
Interns are selected by the participating agencies. Minority Access, Inc. does not select the interns.

Are internships paid?
Yes, all internships are paid positions. Minority Access, Inc. provides bi-weekly stipends, round trip travel expenses, employment benefits, daily commuting subsidies, and assistance in locating housing

Where are interns placed?
Minority Access, Inc. has      overseen the placement of college and university students in internships with the Federal Government at work sites in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area and throughout the United States.
